The HandMade House at The Ramble is a residential home in Asheville, North Carolina designed to showcase thoughtful green building design and artisan flair. Appalachian Antique Hardwoods, LLC was invited to participate along with 100 of the United States most talented craftsmen and artisans to join with Biltmore Farms to create The 2008 HandMade House.
Materials provided by our team included VintageCraft® beams in the great room and Legacy® white oak flooring throughout the home. Meeting the green building standards of North Carolina's HealthyBuilt Homes Program,The HandMade House will be on display October 11 - November 9, 2008.
The HandMade House at the Ramble represents a unique partnership between HandMade in America, a non-profit coalition of Western North Carolina artists and craftspeople, and Biltmore Farms, one of the region's most respected real estate development firms. The idea is to create a showplace residence that demonstrates the value, measured in both commercial and aesthetic terms, of integrating the ideas of thoughtful builders and gifted artists. The House will be on display October 11 - November 9, 2008.
Leading up to that debut moment, one hundred artists from the North Carolina mountains are working hand in hand with architects, landscapers, and construction crews to create a model of collaboration that can be replicated not only in the region but throughout North Carolina and the nation.
