Hickory is a dense and shock resistant wood, which makes it a great use for flooring. It’s combination of stiffness, strength, and toughness is not found in any other commercial wood. The making of drumsticks, golf club shafts, and wheel spokes are a few other common uses for Hickory. Hickory was also widely used in the early construction of airplanes. Due to it’s ability to yield high energy it is also often used for smoking meats, and barbecue, as well as for chimineas, and wood burning stoves. It’s use in wood flooring is common due to it’s ability to resist wear, and to hold character due to being highly durable. Due to this it is a great choice for wide plank hard wood flooring!
Do your home, and yourself a favor, by choosing this gorgeous wood for your next flooring project!
You, Tom, and Tracy went above and beyond for me on this project and I have told everyone I could. I could not have asked for anything better my friend. I was able to design and build the exact vision of my dream house thanks to AAH. You have to come see it once the garage doors and appliances are in.
Appalachian Antique Hardwoods is well known locally for their attention to detail, beautiful hardwoods and the personal service given to each customer. A very sweet family business that we would recommend.
Excellent to work with. High quality product, on time delivery.
After hiring a less expensive company to supply barn wood and beams in a barn addition I realized I had made a mistake in hiring them. After six months and no progress, one unkempt promise after another, I went another direction. I had talked to Appalachian Antique Hardwood originally, so I called them again. They immediately came out and hit every milestone and delivered the completed project three days before Christmas, and still hit my deadline. The quality of the workmanship was great. I would highly recommend them.
